2021 Sub-rankings by provinces and territories
The Argentine Republic is split into 23 provinces and one autonomous city (Spanish: Ciudad autónoma), Buenos Aires, which serves as the country’s federal capital. Departments (Spanish: departamentos) and counties are subdivided further inside provinces (Spanish: municipios). The autonomous city of Buenos Aires and the province of Buenos Aires, which are both based in the east of the country and are respectively Argentina’s most heavily populated city and province, have the greatest number of higher education institutions that follow the Topuniversitieslist selection criterion. Both administrative units of at least two Argentine higher education entities matching the Topuniversitieslist selection criterion are included in the following Topuniversitieslist sub-rankings or league tables.
