2021 Sub-rankings by provinces and territories
Afghanistan’s Islamic Republic is split into 34 provinces (Arabic: wilayah), each of which is further divided into districts (Arabic: wuleswali). The Kabul Province, which is located in the east of the world and hosts Afghanistan’s capital Kabul, is home to the overwhelming majority of higher education institutions that follow the Topuniversitieslist selection criterion. Both provinces with at least two Afghan higher education institutions that fulfill the Topuniversitieslist selection criterion are included in the following Topuniversitieslist sub-rankings or league tables.
