2021 Ranking of Bulgaria Universities
What are Bulgaria’s most famous universities? Topuniversitieslist attempts to address this issue by releasing the Bulgarian University Ranking for 2021, which includes 48 Bulgarian higher-education institutions that fulfill the Topuniversitieslist selection criteria:
- being chartered, registered, or certified by the relevant Bulgarian higher education-related institution, and providing at least four-year undergraduate degrees (bachelor degrees) or postgraduate degrees (master or doctoral degrees) in a conventional, face-to-face, non-distance education style.

2021 Sub-rankings by provinces and territories
Bulgaria is divided into 28 provinces (oblasti in Bulgarian), which are further subdivided into 265 municipalities (Bulgarian: obshtini). The plurality of higher education institutions that follow the Topuniversitieslist selection criterion are in the Sofia City province (Bulgarian: Sofia-grad), which is located in the west of the country and is home to the country’s capital Sofia. Both provinces with at least two Bulgarian higher education institutions matching the Topuniversitieslist placement criterion are included in the following Topuniversitieslist sub-rankings or league tables.
