What are Denmark’s most famous universities? Topuniversitieslist attempts to address this issue by releasing the Danish University Ranking for 2021, which includes 26 Danish higher-education institutions that fulfill the Topuniversitieslist selection criteria:
- being chartered, registered, or certified by the relevant Danish higher education-related institution, and providing at least four-year undergraduate degrees (bachelor degrees) or postgraduate degrees (master or doctoral degrees) in a conventional, face-to-face, non-distance education style.

2021 Sub-rankings by provinces and territories
Denmark is divided into five regions (Danish: regioner), each of which is further subdivided into 98 municipalities (Danish: kommuner). The plurality of higher education institutions that follow the Topuniversitieslist selection criterion are in Denmark’s Capital Region, which includes Copenhagen, the country’s capital and largest district. Both regions with at least two Danish higher education institutions matching the Topuniversitieslist selection criterion are included in the following Topuniversitieslist sub-rankings or league tables.
