2021 Sub-rankings by provinces and territories
Nicaragua is divided into 15 departments (Spanish: departamentos) and two autonomous regions (Spanish: regiones autónomas) by the government. The Managua department, which includes the capital and largest city of Managua, is home to the overwhelming majority of higher education institutions that follow the Topuniversitieslist selection criterion. Both departments with at least two Nicaraguan higher education institutions matching the Topuniversitieslist selection criterion are included in the following Topuniversitieslist league tables or sub-rankings.
