Slovenia is divided into five traditional regions (Slovene: Pokrajine), each of which is further divided into 212 municipalities (Slovene: obcine). The Lower Carniola region, which includes Slovenia’s capital and largest city, Ljubljana, has the highest number of higher education institutions matching the Topuniversitieslist selection criteria..
