Sweden is divided into 21 provinces (Swedish: lan), and the provinces are divided into municipalities (Swedish: kommuner). Stockholm County, which covers the main and capital city of Stockholm, has the largest number of higher education institutions that meet the Topuniversitieslist selection criteria.
