being chartered, registered, or certified by the relevant Tunisian higher education-related institution, and providing at least four-year undergraduate degrees (bachelor degrees) or postgraduate degrees (master or doctoral degrees) in a conventional, face-to-face, non-distance education style.

Tunisia is divided into 24 governorates (Arabic: wilayat), which are subdivided into 264 districts (Arabic: mutamadiyat), which are subdivided further into municipalities (Arabic: baladiyat). The governorate of Tunis, which includes Tunis’s largest and capital city, is home to the overwhelming majority of higher education institutions that follow the Topuniversitieslist selection criterion. Both governorates with at least two Tunisian higher education institutions matching the Topuniversitieslist selection criterion are included in the following Topuniversitieslist sub-rankings or league tables.
