being chartered, registered, or certified by the relevant Ghanaian higher education-related institution, and providing at least four-year undergraduate degrees (bachelor degrees) or postgraduate degrees (master or doctoral degrees) in a conventional, face-to-face, non-distance education style.

Ghana is divided into 16 provinces, each of which is further divided into 216 local districts. The Greater Accra area, which includes the capital and largest city of Accra, has the highest concentration of higher education institutions that follow the Topuniversitieslist selection criterion. Both regions with at least two Ghanaian higher education institutions matching the Topuniversitieslist placement criterion are included in the following Topuniversitieslist sub-rankings or league tables.
