This non-profit public higher-education institution was founded in 1905 in the urban environment of the Malaysian capital of Kuala Lumpur and is the oldest university in the country (population range of 1,000,000-5,000,000 inhabitants). Universiti Malaya (UM) is a coeducational Malaysian higher education institution that is officially recognized by the Kementerian Pendidikan Tinggi (Ministry of Higher Education of Malaysia).
